The Shining – All work and no play…

The Shining (1980)

Not only do I love scary movies… I also enjoy reading horror genre novels in my spare time as well. So, I’ve obviously read Stephen King’s books, and a lot of them.

The Shining’s film adaptation was directed by Stanley Kubrick, famous for other great creations like Full Metal Jacket, Clockwork Orange, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Jack Nicholson stars as Jack Torrance, the new caretaker of an empty hotel through the Winter. However, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” So, naturally, he goes absolutely insane. It makes for an exciting film, more of an adrenaline rush and eerie type movie than pure horror.

Horror: 4/10

Type: Strange

Overall: 6/10
